Mercy, Mercy Me…What Are Independents To Do?
Now that many Americans Voters have made clear that this is a Presidential Election that has excited the country and History making choices are being offered. The specter of electing the first Woman or the first African American Man to the United States Presidency looms large. Independents are once again showing that we will be the voters who will probably provide the margin of victory to the eventual winner. Since there is no National Independent candidate that will appear on the ballot in all fifty states (Ralph Nader included), Independents are and will continue to vote in the millions for one of the three Democratic Party or Republican Party candidates.
Therefore, one of the main issues confounding independent voters is how do we exact any leverage and political power that expresses the genuine concerns of independents as a third political force? A fast growing plurality of Americans that identify themselves as Independents have been seriously disappointed and disillusioned with the two major parties and the two party system that dominate our government. In fact many argue the two parties have governed as if the parties themselves were the government instead of by and for the American People. This phenomena is now being widely acknowledged by the Democrats and Republican parties, candidates for every office and the mainstream media.
In fact, many Independents clamor for changes in the body politic that will diminish the power and influence of all political parties and place more power in the hands of the American voter. Whether that may take the form of campaign finance reform, term limits on all statewide and national political offices, national initiative and referendum laws, national same day voter registration, national nonpartisan elections and/or a move to a genuine multiparty system. These are just some of the initiatives being touted in some Independent circles. Of course, there is also wide spread skepticism and straight out conviction that the two major parties will do anything to avoid any dilution of their control and power over our government and our tax dollars that comes with that dominion.
So, what are independents to do in this historical campaign moment besides vote for one of three?
Well, for one thing we should forget about who we would rather have a beer with or take a shot of whiskey with or who has the most faith in God or any of the other silliness that media pundits talk about to compete for ratings. Since in our more intelligent waking sobriety, we know that none of that matters when our people are dying and killing everyday in a runaway war that is costing us billions and that’s expected to turn into trillions of dollars. Since in our heart of hearts, we understand that our United States Constitution guarantees the separation between Church an State, one of the fundamental reasons given for having fought the American Revolutionary War. And no party or candidate is calling for the repeal of that sacred article. Since we are living the American nightmare of home foreclosures, jobs lost to outsourcing and contaminations of our food, drugs, toys and all kinds of other basic life commodities. We are left shivering from the thoughts that we all might be learning to speak Chinese soon because they own our country’s debt and every other thing we have to buy is “Made In China”. The nightmares are becoming day stares because its all too real and we are the “somebody” that have to care.
I strongly recommend that we find creative ways to build the largest Independent Movement this country has ever seen. I think we should do that at every grassroots level, neighbor to neighbor, family to friend. Join the most progressive Independent organization in your town and if there is none, create one. Join, donate and participate in this online site by informing and being informed of the issues and ways to impact our body politic. Above all else, don’t just say you are an independent to be cool, take action and stay active on a level that might feel uncomfortable at first. Just remember, if we will not take a stand in the making of history now, we just might get buried by history and those left standing.

To summarize, the war is not the issue with me. Speaking Chinese is and from what I see most have bought into globalization. That's bad and the reason for job loss. Soon you will be living on foreign soil , right here in America as property is being gobbled up by foreign investors. Foreclosures are not what bothers me its bailing the banks out with our tax dollars while all of America remains silent, duh! Your silence tells Washington and big business it's ok to continue.
Continue to leave the boarders open. Go ahead and grant Amnesty. It's ok to import food and poison and kill our animals and children. It’s a good thing to pay those fat bankers off for doing a lousy job with our tax dollars. Keep raising gas prices we can afford it. Give free medical , housing and education to illegal Immigrants we can pay for ours. Oh ya and its ok to have sanctuary cities
and ms-13 gang members selling drugs and shooting us. We applaud the senators and other politicians who have gone to jail and still qualify to draw there pension money. We fully understand Carl Rove refusing to show up for a SUBPOENA . WE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT HE IS. and understand if it were any of us we would go to jail. We acknowledge and understand all of these and hundreds more and absolutely agree with those we elected that it's ok. Un-doubtable we will re-elect them to office again and again.
